Charles Jr. "Chuck" Smithers, 66, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022, after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on September 15, 1955, in Muncie, Indiana to Clyde and Rosalee Smithers.

Chuck married Mary, the love of his life on November 9, 1991. She survives him. He is also survived by his father, Clyde Smithers; sister, Leona "Lynn" Webb; children: Angela Davis, Robin Wehlage, Dana Rigney (Mike), and Rod Wehlage (Rene); eight grandchildren: five great-grandchildren, two nieces, and his best friend, Leonard Lewis.

Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalee; brother, Leroy; nephew, Charlie and son-in-law, Steve.

Chuck grew up in Shideler, Indiana and graduated from Delta High School in 1973. He worked most of his life in the heating and air business, most recently as a Salesman for Dial One. He was a dedicated employee and received many awards over the years for his hard work.

Chuck most enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening/yardwork and time spent with family and loved ones. He was a friend to so many and never knew a stranger. Chuck was the most giving man who would do anything for anyone.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Chuck's daughter, Robin, his full-time caregiver, for her time, love and care during Chuck's illness.
