Clyde J. Smithers, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.

Clyde was born on July 22, 1931, in West Robbins, Tennessee to Elvin and Lillie (Bowling) Smithers.

Clyde worked in construction and enjoyed pitching horseshoes, going to church and singing gospel music. Clyde was often requested to visit churches to play guitar, harmonica and sing.

He is survived by his daughter, Leona "Lynn" Webb; daughters-in-law, Mary Smithers and Marjorie Smithers; several grandchildren including Christina Smithers and Katelynn Webb,  several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Smithers, two sons, Chuck Smithers and Lee Roy Smithers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
