Danny Robert Haynes, 86, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 24, 2026 at Anderson Community Hospital with his family at his side.
Danny was born in Indianapolis on August 3, 1939, to Veachel and Mary (Gosnell) Haynes. He attended St. Lawrence schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1957.
Danny served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany and Czechoslovakia. After completing his service, he married Bonnie Shoemaker and their family expanded to include their children: Kathy, Bob and Amy.
Danny attended Ball State University and worked for Westinghouse in Muncie for 30 plus years. Later, he worked for Westinghouse Field Engineering in Portland, Oregon and Square D Manufacturing in Monroe, North Carolina. His working career continued as a founder of the MultiAmp Institute which allowed him to travel and teach field engineering. His final job was assisting in dismantling nuclear power plants.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bonnie Haynes; their children: Kathy Peters (Lyle), Bob Haynes (Cathy), and Amy Thompson (Carter); his sister, Debbie Smith (Louie) and brother-in-law, Joe Messer; six grandchildren: Christopher (Jess), Kevin (Richard), Katelyn (Elijah), Tori (Ryan), Colin and Kelly; two great-grandchildren; Claire and Willow as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brother David Haynes and his sister, Deanna Messer.
In accordance with Danny's wishes, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Pitman-Richman Funeral Home of Eaton, Indiana.
