Gladys M. Main, 97, long-time Eaton resident, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Westminster Village surrounded by her family.


She was born on February 25, 1921 in Blackford County, Indiana to Edgar and Edna (Love) Stafford. She was a graduate of Montpelier High School, class of 1939 and married Francis LaVern Main on November 1, 1943 on Clearwater Beach, Florida. Together they would raise their four children in Eaton.


Gladys was a long-time member of Union Chapel where she met LaVern in 1936. She briefly worked for Armstrong Glass in Dunkirk. Gladys was an excellent seamstress who made clothing for all her children but she was most known for her greeting card ministry through her church.


Her surviving family include her husband of 74 years, Francis LaVern Main; her children: Dixie Cole (Ronald), Lois Reynolds, Shelia Holdren (Bruce) and Steven Main (Kathryn); eleven grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stafford; a sister, Violet Campbell; a son-in-law, Jerry Reynolds and two great-grandsons, Alex DeLeeuw and Tim Cole.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Union Chapel Ministries 4622 N Broadway Ave., Muncie, Indiana with Pastor Gregg Parris officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.


Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.


Memorials may be made in her name to Union Chapel Ministries.


Gladys' family would like to give their sincere thanks to all the staff of Westminster Village and Premier Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Gladys.
