Jack W. Tapy passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home early Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 after a brief battle with esophageal cancer.


Born to Willard and Hulda (Shaffer) Tapy on August 28, 1938 in Eaton, Jack was a retired business man, farmer and golf enthusiast. Choosing to live most of his life in Delaware County, he also had a summer home on Lake Wawasee and wintered at Cypress Head Golf Course in Port Orange, FL.


Graduating from Eaton High School in 1956, Jack earned a basketball scholarship to Delta State University in Cleveland, MS from which he graduated in 1962. On March 25, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Poe, who survives.


He was the owner and founder of JAT Express, Inc. He was actively involved at the First Church of God in Eaton, serving in leadership on various boards. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, FL, was a member of Lakeview Country Club, Eaton, Cypress Head Men's Golf Association, Port Orange, FL and JUNTO in Muncie.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy A. Tapy and their only daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Tim Fry, and granddaughter, Anna Fry.


Family includes: Eugene & Joyce Tapy, Earl Twibell, Marilyn & Gail Edgerton, Elaine Stottlemyer.


Extended family: Julie & Tim Glancy, Brian & Sheila Twibell, Erin Tapy, Rick & Mary Lou Edgerton, Jon & Tammy Edgerton, Brian & Diane Edgerton, Scott & Sharon Hahn, Aaron & Erica Hahn along with several great- nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends.


Jack was preceeded in death by his parents, Shirley Twibell (sister), Clyde & Marian Poe (in-laws), Joe B. Hahn and Jim Stottlemyer (brothers-in-law).


Visitation will be held at First Church of God at 700 E. Harris Street in Eaton on Wednesday, July 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.


A celebration of life to be held at the church at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 with Pastor Robin Wood and Pastor Roger Spitler officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Church of God Building Maintenance Fund, IU Health BMH Hospice or donor's choice of charity.
