James M. Philebaum, 71, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

James was born on March 24, 1947 in Muncie, Indiana to Leo and Donna (Thomas) Philebaum. He was a graduate of Eaton High School, class of 1966 and would serve his country in the U.S. Army.

James met Patricia Weaver at a record hop and would later marry her on April 16, 1971. They had one son, Anthony Dewayne Philebaum, named after James' brother that died as an infant. They also had a daughter, Laura Kay Philebaum, named after Laura from the soap opera "One Life to Live".

James worked for Borg-Warner for 28 years, retiring in 2008. He was a long time member of the Local #287.

James enjoyed his family and worked hard all his life. He enjoyed watching cowboy and army shows as well as American Pickers. Jim loved eating and desserts were his favorite. He could build anything. Jim built furniture, shelves, a gazebo and Barbie houses.

Jim was a loving great-grandpa and loved his grandchildren deeply. He enjoyed spending time watching them swim, play and just having fun. He spent time with Kamden looking at hot rod books. Jim said that Kyan was a good singer and sounded like a girl on the radio. He knew Summer was going to do something great in her future-Jim thought maybe a realtor and he said Lucy was very outgoing and sweet.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia "Patty" Philebaum; son, Tony Philebaum (Melissa); daughter, Laura Shaw (Ezra); four grandchildren: Summer Philebaum, Kyan Speidel, Kamden Shaw and Lucy Shaw.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Philebaum and a sister Frances Walz.
