James P. Sloniker, 89, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his home in Portland, surrounded by his friends at the Jay Randolph Development Center.
The son of Chester & Georgia Mae (Frazee) Sloniker, James was born on March 16, 1929 in Muncie, Indiana. He was raised in Blackford County on the family farm, which he loved very much.
He worked for Eaton Canning Company, Elm Croft and Jay-Randolph Development Service. James was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
James was a hard worker who always looked forward to the next day's work. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, the farm and gospel music. Most of all he loved dogs, sitting in his gazebo and Thanksgiving because James loved food.
James will be missed by his Jay Randolph family s as well as several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Georgia Mae Sloniker and an infant brother, Mark Sloniker.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton.
James will be buried privately next to his family at Black Cemetery, Albany.
The family would like to thank the staff at Jay Randolph Development Center for welcoming James into their family.
