John E. "JD" Davis, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
John was born on January 13, 1936 in Smith Creek, Kentucky to William and Virginia (Clough) Davis. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and married Edith Smith on December 14, 1962. Together they would raise their six children.
John worked for RockTenn in Eaton from 1970 to 2000 and attended the Eaton United Methodist Church. He loved music, especially country music and bluegrass but most of all he loved his family and sitting in the sun.
He is survived by his children: Ricky Davis (Regina), Mike Davis (Missy), Connie Jones (William), Sherri Johnson (Mike "Scott"), and Amber Stevens (Daniel), two brothers; Ronnie Davis (Mary), and Dale Hilderbrand (Rowena), his sister; Joy Craft (Donald), 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as his dog, Scooby, who was his loyal friend throughout their journey.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Edith Davis in 1996, his son William Todd Davis in 1989 and his step-father Allen Hilderbrand.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Keith Williams officiating. Burial with military rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Gardens of Memory.
Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Friday, October 21, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and from 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday.
