Max Blair, 88, died on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Albany Health and Rehab.
Max was born in Wells County, Indiana on February 26, 1935, to Clifford and Ester (Young) Blair. He served his country in the US Army and later married Delphia Trammell on August 10, 1957. Together, they would raise their three boys in Eaton.
Max worked for Eaton Canning, Indiana Glass and later, RockTenn in Eaton for over 33 years, retiring in 1999. Along with his wife Delphia, he was a founding and charter member of Eaton and Gaston EMTs. He served his community as a first responder for over 40 years with Eaton and Gaston EMS and Gaston and Eaton Volunteer Fire Departments.
In addition to his public service, Max enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, traveling with Delphia and visiting different casinos along the way.
He is survived by his sons: Randy Blair (Sandy), and Michael Blair (Kim); his brother, Johnny Ike Blair; his sisters, including his twin-sister, Marie Lewis, and Justine Orchart; six grandchildren: Shawn Blair (Sara), Amanda Blair, Angela Blair, Jessica Wilson, Sarah Wilson, and Bradley Wilson; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delphia, a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Blair and Teena; and his siblings; Joe, Fred Roger, William, Tommy Blair and Annabell Matthews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton. The service will conclude with a Last Alarm Call provided by Eaton EMTs. and Eaton Volunteer Fire Dept: at 8:00 p.m.
Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held at Eaton Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to support the Eaton Volunteer Fire Dept, Eaton EMTs or Eaton Public Library c/o Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 537 Eaton, IN 47338
