Nancy E. Smoot, 90, long-time Eaton resident, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Albany Health Care.

Nancy was born on June 4, 1932 in Muncie and was raised by her grandfather, Pop Snider. She was a 1950 graduate of Eaton High School and married Charles W. Vance. Together they would raise their five children.

Following Charles' death in 1982, Nancy found companionship and love in Keith Smoot of Eaton. The two were married in 1983.

She is survived by her husband Keith Smooth; her children: Charles Vance (Dorothy), Wanda Gilland (Mike), Randy Vance (Linda) and Larry Vance (Julie); eight grandchildren: DeAnna Langster, Johnns Stevens (Tracey), Susan Spurlock, Sommer McWilliams, Greg Gilland, Yolanda Goetz (Pete), Krystal Bisel and Kendra Vance; 18 grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by a daughter Virginia "Ginny" Langster; three sisters: Shirley, Mary Lou and Susie and a great-grandchild, Quentin Goetz.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2022 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Brian Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
