Otis "Roger" Humphrey, 82, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his home with his wife Ruth and daughter, Cariann by his side.
The son of Fred and Leah (Bergdoll) Humphrey, Roger was born on September 1, 1934 in Montpelier, Indiana. Roger went on to serve his country in the Army and was assigned to the 11th Airborne.
Roger worked for Westinghouse starting in 1966 and retired from ABB in 1996. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post #12 and the American Legion Post 0710, as well as the 11th Airborne Division Association.
On November 21, 2011, he married Ruth Stephens in Muncie.
Parachuting and base jumping were Roger's passion. He was a member of the New Horizon Parachute Club, US Parachute Association, as well as several local parachuting clubs. Roger earned his Professional Exhibition Rating allowing him to parachute into sporting events with the American flag. He was passionate about training others and made jumps himself well into his 70's.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Humphrey, children: Roger Humphrey, Sandra Williams, Charles Hayes II, Cariann Hayes, and Leann Berggren, one brother, one sister, two grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Roger was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Leah Humphrey, a son, Anthony "Tony" Humphrey, and two brothers; Fredrick Humphrey and Timothy Humphrey.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St. Eaton. Military Funeral Honors will be provided by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
