Don Patrick "Pat" Kirby, 77, died in the town he was born, Monterey, Tennessee on April 27, 2023.


The son of Frank and Evelyn (McCowan) Kirby, Pat, along with his family, moved to the Eaton, Indiana area about 1952. He attended Eaton schools and graduated from Royerton High School in 1964.


He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. On December 30, 1972, Pat married the love of his life, Esther E. Daniels. Together, they made their home in Eaton.


Pat worked for New-Venture Gear for 30 years, retiring when he was 48. He was a member of the Avondale Sympathy and enjoyed fishing and truck-pulls. Pat was talented with firearms. He manufactured his own ammunition and organized shoots with friends.


Pat is survived by his children: Veronica Keihn (Randy), Victoria Myers (Rebecca Hammond) and Don Patrick Kirby II (Tonya); two sisters, Gena Bilbrey (Randy) and Marsha Kirby; seven grandchildren: Don Patrick Kirby III, Timothy Kirby (Candy), Paul Kirby, Allen Hill, Kindra Swafford (John), Branden Hill (Stephanie) and Thomas Keihn; five-grandchildren: Sarah, Dale, Ryleigh, Lee, Erin and Arlo; and one great-great-grandchild, Ivie, as well as several, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his special nephew, Mike Kirby and his family.


In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Kirby and his brother, Sherlon Kirby.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Eaton Union Cemetery Chapel, 16301 N State Road 3, Eaton, with Pastor Mike Kirby officiating. Burial with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veteran Honor Guard and the U.S. Army will follow at the gravesite.


Friends and family will gather at the cemetery chapel starting at 12:00 Noon.
