It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Peggy Sue Penrod Stogner, who passed away on August 18, 2026, in Rockingham, North Carolina, after a long illness, with her loving husband by her side.

Peggy was born on May 12, 1959, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Edward and Patricia Penrod. She attended Eaton High School in Indiana and Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers, Florida, before continuing her education at Anderson University in Indiana, where she earned her nursing degree.

Peggy dedicated much of her life to caring for others. For 30 years, she worked as a traveling nurse, serving in hospitals throughout the country and specializing in trauma care. Nursing was more than a career for Peggy—it was a life spent helping and caring for people during some of their most difficult moments.

Peggy also had a great love for music. Some of her fondest times were spent listening to her brothers play bluegrass music, something that always held a special place in her heart.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert Stogner; her daughter, Bailey Stogner; her brother, Stephen Penrod; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one aunt; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Patricia Penrod; her brothers, John R. Penrod and Patrick Penrod; and her son, Stephen J. Patton.

Peggy's life touched so many people—from the family who loved her to the countless patients and families she cared for throughout her years as a nurse. She leaves behind a life of service, love, and memories that will continue through all those who knew and loved her.

Memorial services and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been made.

May Peggy rest peacefully, knowing she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
