Rev. Larry Clayton Terry, 87, died on Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home.
The son of William Taft and Febie (Watson) Terry, Clayton was born on December 5, 1936 in Scott County, Tennessee.
In 1953, he married Rosie Mae Slaven in Tennessee. They moved to Delaware County about 1964 where they would make their home and raise their sons, Lloyd, Ronnie and Chris.
Rev. Terry was a preacher with the United Baptist Faith for over 50 years as was called "Preacher" by many. He pastored several churches over the years and also took part in many revivals in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana.
He worked for General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the UAW Local #499, West Union Association in Tennessee, and Westside United Baptist Church
He is survived by his sons: Ronnie Terry (Jenita) and Tony Christopher Terry; granddaughter, Charity Rushing; great-grandchildren: Remmington Terry, Ramsey Rushing, and Zeke Rushing; daughter-in-law, Etta Terry; four brothers: Hurstle Terry, Jimmy Terry, Chuck Terry, and Marshal Terry; his sister, Irene Terry; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by his wife Mae Terry; son, Lloyd Terry; two brothers, James Terry and Milford Terry and three sisters: Marie Honeycutt, Dorothy Whitehead and Ella Chambers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastors Eugene Gregory and Dewayne Loveless officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10 and from 12:00 until 1:00, Thursday.
