Richard L "Dick" Bales, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hosptial.


He was born on June 21, 1929 in Eaton. Richard attended Eaton High School and served his country in the Army. On June 2, 1952, he married Margaret "Peggy" McKillip. Together they would raise their family in Eaton.


Richard worked for BorgWarner for 43 years and was a member of the UAW Local #287. He attended the Antioch Church of the Brethren and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and watching sports.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret "Peggy" Bales, his three sons: Tony Bales, Phillip Bales (Diana), and John Bales, his grandchildren: Crystal Thalls (Jake), Jesse Bales, Beth Bales (Aaron), Jake Bales, Jonathon Bales, Leah Mitchell, and Derek Mitchell twelve grandchildren, his brother, Phillip Bales, two sisters, Helen Rose and Janet Younce, as well as several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.


Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Gene Shively officiating. Burial with Military Funeral Honors by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guards will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.


Visitation for family and friends will be from 1-3 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2016 and from 10-11 am Monday, at the funeral home.


Memorials may be made in his name to the Antioch Church of the Brethren, 5009 N Co Rd 500 W. Muncie, IN 47304.
