Robert E. "Bob" Mitchell, 91, loving husband, father and grandfather, died on Thursday, February 16, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on December 30, 1931 to Roy "Clifford" and Alfretta (Reynolds) Mitchell. He graduated from Eaton High School and married Sharon Shaffer June 3, 1950. Together they would raise their family in Shideler.

Bob worked for BorgWarner in quality control for over 42 years, retiring in 1991. He was a 50+ year member of the Anthony Lodge #171 F&AM, a long-time member of the UAW Local #287 and attended Union Chapel in Muncie.

Bob loved to be outdoors. He loved golfing, fishing, boating and teaching his grandchildren how to water ski. He could pass the time playing horseshoes with his son, Jerry but most of all, he was famous for his stories he would tell to his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of over 72 years, Sharon Mitchell of Shideler: children: Connie McKinsey of Lafayette, Kathy Main (Steven) of Michigan and Jerry "Jake" Mitchell of Eaton; brother, Donald Mitchell (Darlene) of Eaton; grandchildren: Neal Spann (Tiffany) of TN, Geoff Spann (Amy) of IN, Jeremy Spann (Laura) of IN, Angela Renken (Troy), of NC,  Troy Main (Heidi) of LA, Candice DeLeeuw (Brandon), of NC, Nathan Main (Deanna), of MI, Carrie Mitchell of Eaton, Allie Mitchell of Eaton, and Casey Mitchell (Justin Cox)_ of Gaston; 31 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Sharon Shaffer, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Roy "Clifford" Mitchell and Alfretta Adams; siblings: Ronald Mitchell, Billy Mitchell and Margaret Mullins; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Mitchell; son-in-law, Mac McKinsey; sister-in-law Velma Stacey and her husband Herman and a brother-in-law, Danny Shaffer.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Masonic Rites rendered by Anthony Lodge #171 at 7:00 p.m. Prior to services, visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
