Robert J. Richman, 79, passed away Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 at Morrison Woods after an extended illness.


Born August 15, 1938 in Daleville, Indiana to Frank and Valora (Roberts) Richman, he graduated from Daleville High School in 1957. He served his country with the United States Army Security Agency from 1960 - 1963 in Europe.


Upon his return from the military, he graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science, Indianapolis in 1965 and married Janice M. Shirey of Daleville on June 26, 1965.


Bob initially was employed by the Richman Funeral Home of Yorktown and the Richman-Markin Funeral Home of Hartford City.


In 1972 Bob and his wife Jan became the owners of the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home of Eaton until his retirement in 2003.


Bob was a member of the Eaton United Methodist Church, where he had served for several years as trustee; Eaton Masonic Lodge #606 F & A M; Eaton Lions Club, serving as president; the O'Leara-Quirk American Legion Post #90, Eaton, serving as treasurer.


Additionally, he belonged to the Indiana Funeral Directors Association, where he received the Issac Ball Award in 2006, Independent Funeral Directors of Indiana, National Funeral Directors Association and was a founding member of Eaton E.M.T.'s and served on the board after his retirement.


He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Janice; two sons, Rodrick "Rick" Richman (wife, Jenny); Michael Richman (wife, Lindy); five grandchildren Taylor O'Dell, Will Richman, Abbey Richman, Kyndal Richman and Quentyn Richman and one sister Ida Mae Richman.


Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Walby officiating. Burial, with Military Funeral Honors by the U.S. Army and Delaware County Veterans Organization will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie.


Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services Friday.
