Russell E. "Nick" Barton, Jr., 74, died with his family by his side following a brief battle with brain cancer, on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Muncie, Indiana on January 26, 1944 to Russell E. Sr., and Glenda (Keys) Barton. He was a 1962 graduate of Muncie Central High School and would go on to work for BorgWarner, Westinghouse and finally ABB, where he retired.

Nick was an extremely gentle and kind person who loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, boating and archery. One of his favorite past times was to attend vintage car shows.

He will be missed by his children: Kimberli Pfeifer (Doug Purdy), Julie Frigo (James Hickey), and their sister, Amy Yakos (Tony); a granddaughter, Sydney Pfeifer, a niece, Cindy York, two nephews, Dee Gregory and Colt Doster as well as many life-long friends.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Monna Gregory and Maryellen Mann and a niece, Tonya Friend.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Brian Waters officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00.
