Vern L. Dudley, 83, died on November 27, 2023, at Albany Health and Rehabilitation after an extended illness.

Vern was born on November 28, 1939, in Portland, Indiana to O.L. and Nevada Dudley. He graduated from Greencastle High School and attended Montana State University. Vern served his country in the Army National Guard and later, on July 27, 1961, he married Mary Lorena McCoskey in Sheridan, Indiana.

Vern worked for Riggins Dairy as a milk-delivery man for many years and later for Prairie Farms for over 12 years. He also delivered newspapers for the Muncie Star and the Muncie Evening Press for several years. In 2005, Vern retired and enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, many of whom he bowled with in Hartford City.

Vern enjoyed fishing and when his son Dan was young, they traveled almost every weekend for BMX races.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Mary Lorena Dudley; their children, Hope Grimes (Tracy) and Dan Dudley; grandson, Casey Grimes (Katie) and their children: Brentley and Rainy; guardian children, Jeff Dudley and Becca Conwell; two brothers, Ed Dudley and Burl Dudley (Cheryl), as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Vern was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Dudley and Paul Dudley and a sister, Dorthy Curtis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S Hartford St., Eaton. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the funeral from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, Eaton.
