Captain David B. Nicholson, 74, retired Muncie Police Officer passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
David was born on April 12, 1950, in Muncie to Loren and Betty (Conquest) Nicholson. He was a 1968 graduate of Muncie Central High School and attended Ball State University.
David worked as a Police Officer in Muncie for over 34 years, retiring in 2013. He worked for over 17 years with juveniles, was a founding member of the SMART team at the YOC and attended the FBI Academy during his time as a police officer.
On October 20, 1999, he married Patricia A. Dillie.
David was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Gregg Winters Memorial Lodge #87 as well as the Blue Knights.
David was a long-time member of Eaton First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Nicholson; children: Elizabeth Nicholson, Nathan Jarrett (Sherlyn), and Hilary Joslin; his siblings: Monte Nicholson (Eileen) and Sheila Turner; seven grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, Michael Dillie (Jan); special cousins, Michael Burton (Sandy) and Michael Carrick (Stephanie); special family, Gary and Mary Vannatta; and Sylvia, his cat.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Nicki Jill Nicholson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Eaton First Baptist Church, 510 E Columbia Ave., Eaton, with Pastor Mark Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friend will be prior to the funeral, starting at 12:00 Noon.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Animal Rescue Fund, ARF at 1209 W Riggin Rd., Muncie, IN 47303.
