Donald G. Mitchell, Sr., 88, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at his home.

Don was born along with his twin brother, Ronald, on December 24, 1935 in Muncie, Indiana to Roy and Alfretta (Reynolds) Mitchell. He attended Eaton schools and served his country in the US Air Force.

On October 18, 1955, he married Darlene Davis and together they would raise their three children in Eaton.

Don worked for BorgWarner for over 41 years. He attended Ilumate Muncie Foursquare Church, was a member of the UAW #287 and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #90.

Don loved spending time with his family and traveling to visit them. He enjoyed camping and boating at the lakes. He was coach for a junior bowling league in Muncie for several years, served a president for Christian Fellowship Bowling League, was a skate-guard at Gibson’s in Muncie and New Castle, a member of the “Joyriders” motorcycle club and president of 714 CB club where he had the handle “Three Finger Pete”.

He is survived by his loving wife Darlene Mitchell; his children: Don Mitchell (Bonnie), Dave Mitchell (Linda) and Debbie Mitchell; sister-in-law, Sharon Mitchell; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Alfretta Adams and her husband Ike; his father, Roy Mitchell; twin brother, Ronald Mitchell; brothers, Robert Mitchell and Billy Mitchell; his sister, Margaret Mullins and a grandson Wyatt Allen Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Brenton Hill officiating. Entombment with Military Funeral Honors by the US Air Force and the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024 and after 12:00 Noon Monday at the funeral home.
