Floramae Cutforth went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at her home. She was born in September 1932 in Hebron, Indiana, to loving parents, Martin and Elizabeth. Floramae graduated from Hebron High School in 1950 and furthered her education with a B.S. degree from Manchester College in 1954 and an M.S. degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1958. She taught elementary education for ten years in La Porte, Indiana.
She was married to the love of her life, Loyal Cutforth, for 62 years. Floramae and Loyal lived on a farm north of Muncie for over 50 years in a home they built.
She was a member of Union Chapel Ministries in Muncie and served in several volunteer capacities there, including being a small group leader and a volunteer for the 180 youth group for many years. In previous churches she served by teaching children’s Sunday School for 22 years and as a director of Vacation Bible School. She was also a Delaware County 4-H leader for 15 years, president of both the Eaton School Parents Association and the Delta High School Parents Association, and a parent leader for Boy Scouts. She served on the Delaware County Farm Bureau board for over 30 years. For over 40 years Floramae worked at the polls on election day.
Floramae was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning vegetables from their garden.
She often served big meals to friends and family, and was well known for her homemade yeast rolls.
She loved music and sang in the church choir and at the Billy Graham Crusade in Indianapolis.
When her children were young, she was a full-time homemaker. Her greatest love of all was spending time with her family. People will remember her for her kind heart and keen sense of humor. Loyal, her husband, believed Floramae lived the virtues of a Proverbs 31 wife.
Surviving are her husband, Loyal Cutforth, of 62 years, three children: a son Curtis (wife Leza) Cutforth of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter Kathleen (husband Matt) Crow of Delaware, Ohio; and a son Craig (wife Liane) of Lafayette, Colorado; and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are one sister, Margaret Zeek from Michigan City, Indiana; two brothers: Ronald (wife Jane) Fisher from Hebron, Indiana; Mark (wife Janet) Fisher from Valparaiso, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Vivian Mosher from New Jersey.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, September 13 at Union Chapel Ministries.
Funeral services will be at Union Chapel Ministries, 4622 North Broadway in Muncie, Indiana at 10:30am on Saturday, September 14, with visitation an hour preceding. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
