Fred E. Futrell, 78, died surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 23, 2022 at his home.
Fred was born on August 31, 1944 to Frank and Louise (Harvey) Futrell. He was a 1962 graduate of Eaton High School and went on to work as a pipefitter for BorgWarner retiring in 2002.
On January 13, 1968 he married, Lana Kemp and together they would raise their family in Eaton. Fred was a skilled pipefitter who operated his own independent plumbing business. He had special memories plumbing with his father and his children.
Fred was most proud of being a foster parent. Over the years, he and Lana were foster parents to 34 children. He was a member of Union Chapel Ministries and also served on the Eaton Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Lana Futrell; his children: Ron Futrell, Teresa Ringo (Shane), Rick Futrell (Kim), Erica Walker (Gerran) and Jessica Futrell; two brothers, Bob Futrell (Caroyln) and Jim Futrell (Liz); seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two brothers, John Gump and Charles Gump.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial with Military Funeral Honors by the Delaware County Veterans Honors Guard will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28th and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
