Iva Mae Smith

Iva Mae Smith, 94, died on December 17, 2023, at Signature Health Care in Muncie.

She was born on January 12, 1929, to Daniel and Ola Mae (Saltsman) Ratican. Iva graduated from Eaton High School and married Charles Smith on August 31, 1947, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Together they made their home in Eaton where they would raise their three children, Charles Jr., Daniel and Debra.

Iva enjoyed caring for her family, taking walks with her friends, baking, sewing, and knitting booties and bonnets for newborn children which she donated to Ball Hospital.

She is survived by her children: Charles Smith Jr. (Glory), Daniel Smith (Phyllis), and Debra Utt (Fred); six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to parents, Iva was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her brother Harold Ratican and her sister, Jean Kraus.

Private funeral services will be held at Eaton Union Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Josh Johnson officiating.
