James R. “Jim” Jordan, 85, formerly of Sunman, Indiana, died on Saturday evening, December 4, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home in Muncie.
James was born on April 21, 1936 in Knox County, Kentucky to Alvis and Susan “Jones” Jordan. He attended Aurora High School and later served his country in the US Navy. On May 28, 1955 he married Janice L. Craft and together they would raise their three children.
James worked for and retired from Batesville Casket Company. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Muncie and a former member of Dearborn Baptist Church in Aurora, Indiana. He loved to golf and did so at least five days a week. He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM #108 in Milton, Indiana as well as the Syrian Shrine of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Janice Jordan; his children: James Jordan Jr. (Linn Simensen), Jennifer Block (Mike) and Sharon Fowler (Harry); a sister, Edith Antill; four grandchildren: Gregg Jordan, David Burns, Jordan Burns (Shane Johnson) and Andy Block (Emily); as well as seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings: Otis, Gentry and Raymond Jordan, Georgia Smith and Cleaty Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Troy Kaufman officiating. Burial with Military Funeral Honors by the US Navy and the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Black Cemetery, Albany.
Friends may gather at the funeral home Friday starting at 11:30 a.m.
