James L. “Jim” Lewis, 90, of Matthews, Indiana, died on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Bethel Pointe after a brief illness.
Jim was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1931 in Eaton, Indiana to William and Lulu (Steffy) Lewis. He was a 1950 graduate of Eaton High School and Married Carol Rhinehart on November 17, 1961 in Eaton.
Jim worked for Marhoefer packing for many years and was a member of the Matthews 1st Community Church and the Masonic Lodge F&AM #650. He was a very talented painter that enjoyed creating country scenes on saw blades. Jim enjoyed selling these at the Matthews Covered Bridge Festival and also in Metamora.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Lewis; two daughters, Jama Dobbs and Vickie Maxwell; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, William Wendel and Robert Lewis and two sisters, Lucille Edwards and Wilma Carder.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Eaton Union Cemetery Chapel, 16301 N State Road 3 Eaton with Pastor Joe Ruberg officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.
Friends will gather at 1:00 p.m. Monday, prior to services.
