Jane Alice Norrick Huffman passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, March 12, 2017.

She was born on May 24, 1927 in Tipton County Indiana to Robert Norrick and Besse Innis.

Jane spent most of her life in Eaton Indiana where she graduated from Eaton High School in 1945. She married William Huffman (Bill) on October 26, 1947 at the Eaton United Methodist Church.

Jane spent her entire life serving others. She opened her heart and her home to many. She encouraged, loved and changed everyone who crossed her path with her loving, kind spirit.

She began her teaching career later in life after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 followed by a Masters Degree in 1970, both from Ball State University. She taught at Jay County High School from 1970-1990, serving as Department Chair of the Home Economics Department.

After retirement, she and Bill owned and operated Huffman Orchard for thirty years where they shared their labor of love with the entire community.

Throughout her lifetime, Jane was a very active member of the community serving as a 4-H leader and judge, a sponsor of Y Teens and a member of the quilting group at Union Chapel Ministries. Other memberships included the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, 42nd Street Home Extension Club, Wednesday Afternoon Club of Eaton, Psi Iota Ixi Sorority, Eaton United Methodist Women, Phi Upsilon Honorary and Kappa Delta Phi Honorary.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, William; three daughters, Alice Van Dyke (Art) , Molly Huffman, Nancy Ellis (Mike, deceased); three grandchildren, Andy Ellis, Tyler Ellis (Kim), Hannah Ricks (Allen); three great-grandchildren Will Ellis, Maggie Ellis and Madelyn Ricks; a sister-in-law, Sue Norrick as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers Jack, Robert and Richard and a son-in-law Mike Ellis.

A memorial service for Jane will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17 at Union Chapel Ministries, 4622 North Broadway, Muncie, Indiana with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
