Jean Ellen Morgan, 90, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother went on to be with the Lord Saturday, August 5th 2023.
Jean Ellen was born on June 15th,1933 at home in Eaton, to Chris and Lilavati (nickname Todd) Powell. Jean Ellen grew up in Eaton, Indiana where she graduated from Eaton High School in 1951. She married Rex Arlen Morgan in 1957, and she had two children, Christopher Lee Morgan (deceased) and Kay Lynne Morgan (Crockett). She worked at Eaton Canning Factory for a few years, taught Sunday School and Bible School from when she was 12 years old to 80 years old, and sold jewelry through Angel Connection. She loved painting, art, event planning, crafting, sewing clothes, and so much more. She was always very creative. Everyone loved her sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and world famous iced tea.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, James Clifford Christopher and Lilavati Willamae Arabelle Powell, her brother James Franklin Powell and wife Alma, and her son Christopher Lee Morgan. She is survived by many including her husband, Rex Morgan, her brother Samuel (Jewell, deceased) Powell, her sister Christina (Tom) Horton, her daughter Kay (Jimmie, deceased) Crockett, and her 9 grandchildren, Dawn (Michael) Garton, Brittany (Jose) Rivera, Samantha (Brandon) Purvis, Hillary (Carl, deceased) Atkinson, Caleb (Susan) Crockett, Hayley (Jesse) Anderson, Miracle Crockett, Anastasia Daniels, Amanda (Matt) Priebe, 38 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jean Ellen, (or Memom as all the grandkids knew her), would do anything for her family and friends. Everyone who knew her knew how special she was, and she always made everyone feel welcome, safe and loved at her and Papa's house on their 30 acre farm
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday August 10th at 1:30pm at Eaton United Methodist Church (219 E South St, Eaton, IN) with Pastor Leon Pomeroy officiating. Graveside service immediately following at Union Cemetery (16301 N State Road 3, Eaton, IN).
Friends and family are welcome to gather at the church starting at 12:30pm prior to the services.
Jean Ellen wrote letters to and sponsored children through Compassion International for many years. She also participated in the giving of shoeboxes filled with gifts for Operation Christmas Child, through Samaritan's Purse.
