Jerry DeWayne Vance, 95, died on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Bethel Pointe Health & Rehab.
Jerry was born on November 21, 1927, in Eaton, Indiana to Jerry V. and Eva (Dunlap) Vance. Upon graduation in 1945 from Cambridge High School in Ohio, Jerry enlisted in the Navy before the end of World War II.
On June 24, 1949, he married the love of his life, Joyce Smith. Together they would raise their five children in Shideler. The family grew and was nurtured by their church home for many years, Union Grove Church of the Brethren.
Jerry was an everyday face at the Muncie Mall where he would walk and visit with his friends. He was a 50 plus year member of the Model-A Club and owned many model-a cars over the years. He worked for BorgWarner in Muncie until his retirement in 1989.
His loving family includes his children: Dave Vance (Janet), Jay Vance (Morna), Mark Vance (Sheryl), Sally Ann Lewis and Brian Vance (Brenda); twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren as well as two sisters-in-law, Lita Vance and Alice Feezle.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Vance in 2013 and four siblings: Bill, Pat, Shirley and Elsie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Evan Guse officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
Visitation for family and friends will start at 9:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service, Friday.
