Jewell Dean Powell, 84, passed away on April 19, 2021 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Muncie.
Jewell was born on October 31, 1936, in Byrdstown, Tennessee to Wolferd and Pansy (Smith) Cravens. She was a 1954 graduate of Eaton High School.
Jewell married Samuel C. Powell on July 19, 1957. Together they raised their family in Eaton.
Jewell was a long-time member of Eaton United Methodist Church. She worked in the office of Dr. Gillispe in Eaton. She was also was a dental assistant to Dr. William Manning. She was a volunteer in Ball Hospital Gift Shop in Muncie, Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Florida and Life Changing Ministries in Florida.
Jewell loved to babysit children. She was a very crafty lady. She was an accomplished seamstress, making dresses for her two daughters and grand-daughters.
Jewell loved gardening and had many beautiful flower gardens. She loved to bowl, spend fall at Mackinaw City, Michigan and together Jewell and Sam spent 20 winters in Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Samuel Powell; two daughters, Jennifer D. Moore (husband, Tony) and Cynthia D. Rambaud (husband, Karl); sisters, Sue L. Crozier (husband, John), Nelda F. Smith (husband, Lewis); brother, Wolferd Cravens, Jr. (wife, Nancy); 10 grandchildren: Ashley Powell, Patrick Powell (Karen), Rachel Moore, Alissa Moore, Carissa Redilla (William, Jr.), Nathan Rambaud (Mellie), Amber Jenke (Nick), Mackenzie Rambaud, Samuel Powell and Emily Powell; five great-grandchildren: Christopher Powell, Kayleigh Powell, Bentley Jenke, Hailie Jenke and Evangeline Powell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack Cravens, two sons, Samuel S. Powell (wife, Darlene) and David C. Powell (wife, Wendy).
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Roger Walby officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be prior to services from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Eaton United Methodist Church.
