EATON, IN- Joe Ronald Walker, 87, passed away late Tuesday evening, October 17, 2023, in the comforts of own home.
Born October 15, 1936, in Muncie, he was one of two sons born to Dean Laird and Lottie Eva (Michaels) Walker and was a 1956 graduate of Royerton High School. He was an Army veteran, being inducted in 1958 and married Kay L. Huxhold on November 13. 1958 at Normal City Church. (formerly at the corner of Tillotson & University Ave)
Joe was a lifelong carpenter and was a member of the Muncie Carpenters and Jointers Union, local 1016. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and was Past Worthy Patron of the former Eastern Star of Eaton, Indiana
He retired in 2009 from Hagerman Construction as Senior Project Superintendent and had taken part in the construction of the Gannett News Center in Florida and the Honeywell Center in Wabash, Indiana. His occupation led him across many states, including Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Florida.
Joe loved animals as much as people. He loved his farm and had the continuing concern that all (including animals) had enough to eat.
He will be missed by his wife of almost sixty-five years, Kay; his son, Dean (Shawn) Walker; daughter, Beth (Tony) Monroe, all of Eaton. Four grandchildren: Britta Masterson, Andrew (Marissa) Monroe, Mitchell Masterson and Kira Walker; five, great-grandchildren also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son Gray Walker; daughter Lisa Masterson; grandson, Jacob “Jake” Monroe and his brother, Jack Walker.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 23rd, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with Brother Del Ray of Eaton First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will be at Eaton Union Cemetery after the funeral.
Visitation will also be held on Monday, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
