John R. Bales, 61, died on Friday, February 21, 2025, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

John was born on October 22, 1963, to Richard and Peggy (McKillip) Bales.

John was known for his sense of humor and his honesty. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed being around his family.

He is survived by his son, Jonathon Bales, stepson, Derek Mitchell; stepdaughter, Leah Mitchell; brother, Tony Bales; sister-in-law, Diana Bales; as well as several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Peggy Bales and his brother, Phillip Bales.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Pitman-Richman Funeral Home.
