John David Hargis, 68, died on Friday, November 25, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial.
Dave was born on September 12, 1954 in Muncie, Indiana to Benton and Juanita (Cantrell) Hargis. He graduated from Muncie Southside in 1972 and worked with his father at Hargis Construction before working for RockTenn, now WestRock for over 28 years.
On September 29, 1978 he married Vicki Rogers and together they made their life in Eaton. Dave was formerly active in the Muncie Moose and Eagles Lodges.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Hargis; his children: John D. Hargis II (Amy), DaeCha Ogle, Ben Hargis (Hannah) and Jessica Hargis (Nathan Jones); eight grandchildren: Trinton Ogle, Joshua Ogle (Briana), Macie Jones, Ryen Hargis, Ariana Jones, Aiden Hargis, Cooper Jones and Harlee Jones; three great-grandchildren: TJ, Journey, and Joshua Ogle; his brother, Scott Hargis; sister, Judy Gibson; brother-in-law, Steven Rogers (Janet); sister-in-law, Becky Rogers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Benton Hargis and Juanita Kissick, Dave was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Hargis; brother-in-law, Roscoe Gibson and brother-in-law, Gary Rogers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Mark Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
The family will gather and accept visitors at the funeral home on Monday starting at 10:00 a.m.
