Keith Russell Smoot, 91, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Envive of Hartford City.

Keith was born on May 24, 1933, in the family home just outside of Eaton, Indiana to Roll and Hazel (Furniss) Smoot. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1951 and later married Janet Smith. Together they would make their home in Eaton.

Keith worked as a custodian for the Delaware County Justice Center, for Shell Oil, for the Smoot Gas Station in Eaton and also drove a school bus. He enjoyed farming on the side and raising hogs. Each year he would gift a hog to a first-time 4H youth.

Keith is survived by his children, Bobbie Boyle (Jack Whited) and Terry Smoot (Cindy); three grandchildren: Brandy Sorrell (Bret Kelso

), Jennie Houston (Monte), and Heath Smoot (Tiffany); step-grandchildren: Kendra Vance, Kaylee Scott, Ryan George, and Jon George; 9 great-grandkids; 5 step-great-grandkids and 3 great-great-grandkids as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his wife Janet Smoot in 2000; his brothers: Bill Smoot (Delorise), Gene Smoot (Rosemary), Roll Smoot (Mildred), and Bob Smoot (Dorothy); sisters: Bernice Sipe (Jim), Marcella Robbins (Ora), Maxine Mills (Harold), Betty Carmichael (Kenny), Annabee McIntire (Bill) and Sara Richards-Limbert (Bob).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Brian Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
