Peggy A. Simmons, 89, of Muncie, Indiana, formally of Eaton, Indiana, passed away on January 2, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Velvia and Rhoda (Huffine) Phillips, Peggy was born on August 21, 1931 in Hatfield, Indiana. She was a 1949 graduate of Eaton High School and later married the love of her life, William “Bill” Simmons on July 2, 1950. Together, they would raise their two sons in Eaton.
Peggy worked as a tax accountant at Ball State University, served as the Eaton Town Clerk from 1972 to 1976 and was a court reporter for Delaware County Superior Court #2. Her favorite job was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peggy was a long-time member of the Eaton United Methodist Church and a board member of the Eaton Community Library.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, William “Bill” Simmons; two sons, Mark Simmons (Elaine) of Granville, Ohio and Matthew Simmons (Karen) of Muncie; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Paul) Callahan, Ashly (Nick) Cassidy, Austin (Chelsea) Simmons, and Karen (Ty) Alexander; great-grandchildren, Luke and Evan Callahan, Nate and Nolan Alexander, and Scarlet Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Belle Wilson, Ina Loughmiller, Tillie Hautch, and Pauline Erli; and brothers, Velvia Phillips, Jr. and Robert Phillips.

Private Funeral Services will be held at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, with burial following at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
