Phillip Max Carmin

KENDALLVILLE, IN PHILLIP MAX CARMIN, 84, former Muncie resident, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Kendallville. The son of Kit and Hazel (Kirkpatrick) Carmin, he was born August 13, 1924 in Gaston, Indiana. A 1942 graduate of Harrison Township High School, he married Becky McKinley on February 6, 1949 in Eaton. Max was well known for his work at Smittie’s Menswear, where he worked for over 50 years. He was a 50 year member of the Matthews Lodge #650 F&AM and attended the Lake Missionary Church and the Heartland Fellowship Church. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Becky Carmin, one daughter, Jill Carmin, one granddaughter, Samantha Carmin, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kit and Hazel Carmin. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, May 4, 2009 in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, IN, with Roland Roth presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, May 3 and one hour prior to services Monday at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in his name to the Lake Missionary Church 9030 W.
