Phillip Conyers Obituary

Hartford City, IN 

Phillip Eugene Conyers died in Hartford City, Indiana on March 16, 2021.  He and his family lived in Visalia, Tulare, and Lindsay, California for 55 years.  He was born in Muncie, Indiana on March 17, 1937 to Clarence Ishmael 'Joe' and Rena May (Baker) Conyers.  

His wife of 63 years, Bertha Lorena Warner, died in 2018.  He took care of her at home throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s, which lasted over 10 years.    He was also preceded in death by his twin sister Phyllis Hitchcock, a grandson Jonathan Conyers, sisters Alice La Plante, Mary Heeter, and Doris Dougan. 

Surviving are 4 children, Nancy and Gary Shook of Visalia, California, Phil and Kathy Conyers of Knox, Indiana, John and Frances Conyers of San Antonio, Texas, and Surona and Randy Johnston of Tulare, California.   There are 6 grandchildren, Brian Shook of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Tami Lack of Tulare, California, Thomas Shook of Tulare, California,  Jeffrey Conyers of Houston, Texas, Cassandra Hearn of Tulare, California, and Cody Johnston of Visalia, California. 10 great grandchildren.  Hannah, Sarah, and Matthew Shook.   Dawson and Jude Lack.  Sebastian, Gideon, and Penelope Shook.  Jaxon and Emma Hearn.  Family, Ronnie and Mary Warner of Hartford City, Indiana, and Connie Eppard of Eaton, Indiana, and Janetta Land of Tulare, Calif.  He had 34 nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services with Military Rites by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Black Cemetery, Black Cemetery Road (550 E., North of State Road 28), Albany, Indiana, with Brian Waters officiating.
