Phyllis A. Paige, 90, passed away on September 6, 2016 at Morrison Woods in Muncie from Alzheimer 's disease.
The daughter of Roy and Josephine (Warren) Croyle, she was born on June 30, 1926 on a family farm Randolph County. When she was a child, the family moved to Detroit, MI and she later attended Detroit High School. Before the close of her senior year, the family moved back to Union City, IN and she graduated from Union City High School. While in school, Phyllis met Calvin Paige at the sweet shop where he worked. They were married in 1947 and lived several places while Calvin was in the Air Force. Together they would raise their daughter, Connie.
Phyllis worked in an RCA factory during WW2, making tracking parts for bombs. She also worked as a waitress and a beautician. At 36 and with a daughter in elementary school, Phyllis went back to school at Ball State Teachers College. She earned a bachelor's degree in education and later a master's degree in education. Phyllis went on to teach at Harrison Elementary, Stevenson Elementary, and Grissom Elementary Schools, teaching at Muncie Community Schools for a total of 42 years. Phyllis was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Connie Clary (Mike), of Muncie, three granddaughters: Paige Waters (Brian) of Eaton, Molly Roberts (Shawn) of Clearwater, Florida, and Stephanie Borba (Jason) of Oldsmar, Florida, grandson, James Clary (Ashley) of Hampton, Virginia, her sister, Patricia Richie (Jerry), niece Juliana Williams, great-grandchildren: Katherine Roberts, William Roberts, Edward Roberts, Jackson Borba, Shelby Borba and Sarah Waters, as well as many friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Calvin E. Paige and several babies she lost before they were born.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Brian Waters officiating. A private family burial will be held at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, September 9 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send flowers to someone you love, visit the lonely or the elderly, or read to a child. When remembering Phyllis, please do as she did: eat dessert first, travel somewhere new, and cheer for the Cubbies.
