Rick J. Ashcraft, 59, passed away peacefully at home after an extended, courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 16th. In his final days, he was surrounded by his loved ones and departed this world into the embrace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rick grew up in Eaton, Indiana, and has always been known for his sense of humor, being a hard worker and for his genuine kindness. In 1999, Rick met his wife, Daisha, and they just recently celebrated their 25th year together.
Rick began his career at Eaton Septic Tank in 1985 alongside his dad. In 2019, he took over the business and managed it with his wife. Together, they ran a successful business and made many good friends along the way.
Rick enjoyed fishing, canoeing, camping, working on his 1962 Chevrolet “The Green Machine” and taking it out on the road, family trips to the Smoky Mountains and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He never missed his kids ball games and was their number one fan. Rick was a devoted member of Bridgeway Christian Center and was baptized on June 9, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends.
Rick leaves behind several to mourn his loss, including, his wife; Daisha Ashcraft; 3 children: Kierra (Michael) Rainey, Clayton (Allison) Sherwood, and Amelia Ashcraft; 2 grandchildren; Graham Sherwood, and Parker Rainey, and his first granddaughter due in January 2025; father; Jack Ashcraft Sr.; 3 brothers; Chris, Allen and Jack Ashcraft as well as several nieces and nephews: Jack III, Greg, Garret, Dustin, Andy, Katrena, Haley, Hannah and Shanna, as well as several close friends and family.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Ashcraft; brother, Dean Ashcraft; father-in-law, Earl P. Cox Jr., and a grandson, Jensen Rainey.
