Robert L. Rubush, 86, passed away surrounded by family on Monday morning, June 19, 2017 at Morrison Woods.
Bob was the fourth of twelve children, born to Lyle and Cecile (Powell) Rubush on December 5, 1930. He attended school near Kokomo but left early to support his family after the passing of his father.
Bob served his country as a staff sergeant in the Army during the Korean War and married Marianna Hodgin on May 29, 1954 in Eaton. Together they would raise their family here in Eaton. Bob worked for Delco Remy for 40 years retiring in 1995. He enjoyed working at the family-owned Homestead Keg & Kettle in Hartford City from 1965-1980.
He was a member of the Eaton United Methodist Church, a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #606 F&AM and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marianna Rubush, his daughter, Lylanne Musselman; two granddaughters, Keli Penrod (Cyle), and Alison Thompson (John); five great-grandchildren: Codey Penrod (Carissa), Kyli Penrod, Scott Thompson, Damon Thompson, and Alex Thompson; great-great-grandchild Kolby Penrod; two sisters, Dorothea Rollins, and Mary Meiring; a brother, James Rubush (Helen); brother-in-laws Ben Hodgin and Dean Moon; sister-in-law, Harriett Rubush; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings: Sara McCormick, Alice Moon, Betty Huffer, Martha Avery, Audra Moon, John Rubush, David Rubush, Carole Saul, Helen Rubush, and William Rubush; his mother-in-law Marjorie D Hodgin and father-in-law, Clayton S. Hodgin; and a sister-in-law Carolyn Hodgin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton with Pastor Roger Walby officiating. Burial with Military Funeral Honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 and one hour prior to services Friday.
A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, following visitation.
