Ruthanna Stout, 89, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday afternoon May 28, 2025, at Albany Health Care.
Ruthanna was born just outside of Eaton, Indiana on March 26 ,1936 to Claude and Marie (Hickman) Polk. She graduated from Royerton High School in 1954 and married Dick Stout on October 26, 1957.
Ruthanna continued her education, graduating from Ivy Tech with an associate degree in mental health in 1981. She worked for Hillcroft Services as a residential supervisor, retiring in 2001.
Ruthanna was a member of Eaton Baptist Church, long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star #411, Upland Chapter, the Emmaus and was a leader in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and taught Sunday School.
She is survived by her children: Delbert Stout, Sarah Bond (Michael), and Kimberly Blair (Michael); her sisters, Mary Schumacher and Shirley Roberts (Chuck); grandchildren: Jeremy Bond, Mike Bond (Zoie), Richard Bond (Allie), Jessica Wilson (Scotty Batt), Sarah Wilson and Bradley Wilson; great-grandchildren: Xavier,
Elizabeth, Jessee-James, Michael, Harley, Bentley, and Paizley as well as several nieces and nephews, and Kathy Trewyn, whom she considered her daughter
Ruthanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dick Stout, two brothers, Bill Polk and John Polk; two sisters, Marilyn McKnight and Iris Polk.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Hartford St., Eaton with Ken Withers officiating. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
