Wanda (Sinders) Waite

Wanda Waite (Sinders), 96, of Muncie, went to be with her Lord and savior on Saturday, September 23, 2023. She was born on June 24, 1927 in Lapel, Indiana to the late Arnold and Marie (Conner) Sinders. 

Wanda graduated from Lapel High School in 1945 and went on to further her education at Ball State University, where she studied Business and Social Studies for two years. She started to work as an instructor at Indiana Bell Tel. from 1947-1955.

Wanda met and fell in love with Howard Waite and the two were married in July of 1955. They started a family and she began working for The Muncie City Schools as a library aid, from 1978-1992. She had many tasks at this job but reading to the children was the most fulfilling to her.  Wanda loved reading, to children, or sitting quietly with her bible. She loved being with her family and sitting by the lake with them. Wanda enjoyed taking trips, doing puzzles, word search, playing bridge and talking on the phone with friends. She was very punctual and stuck to the schedule. Wanda made the world’s best brownies with oatmeal icing, cherry chip cake and the bomb potato salad. She was a member of Gethsemane Church in Muncie and a member of the Eastern Star.

Wanda is survived by her son, Wayne Waite (Laquieta), five grandchildren; Christy Dalton (Robbie), Cory Burgauer (Janelle), Amber Hannock (Ryan), Kirby Burgauer and Katie Burgauer, seven great grandchildren; Alex, Devin, Keely, Colton, Maura, Kyle and Reese, a son-in-law, Mike Burgauer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 50 years, Howard Waite, and a daughter Dixie Burgauer, very special fur babies Bear and Zoey.

A funeral service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St. Eaton, IN 47338,with Pastor Kate Muhlbaier officiating.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Eaton.
