Ward B. Whited, 78, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 after an extended illness.
Ward was born on January 17, 1945 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Jacob and Mary Jane (Adkins) Whited. One of eleven children, Ward grew up in Jamestown and graduated from the York Institute. He went on to work for General Motors retiring after almost 35 years of employment.
Ward was a proud member of the UAW 2209 and enjoyed being outdoors, fishing or tinkering with his lawnmower. He is an avid Colts fan and enjoyed NASCAR.
On July 29, 1992 he married Rita Newby and together they would enjoy the next thirty years together. For eleven years, Ward and Rita, owned and operated Friend’s Bar & Grill in Muncie. Ward is survived by his loving wife Rita (Bilby-Newby) Whited; children, Wes Whited (Kristie) and Trisha Williams (Anthony) grandchildren: Alanna Whited, Morgan Whited, Derrick Newby, Dustin Manis, and Marleigh Whitaker; great-grandchildren: Haisley Newby, Jake Newby and Hayden Manis; sister, Barb Crump; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Cora Bilby as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ward was preceded in death by a daughter, Leanna Newby and nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S Harford St., Eaton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Pitman-Richman Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Spitler officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory.
